If you missed the spring rally May17-20, 2007 you did indeed miss a wonderful rally.  Ed Capa did a great job finding us the Bay Shore Camp & Family Ministries complex to use.  A very nice camping area and a wonderful building to use free of charge!  He did a great job of organizing everything and making sure all went well.  Unfortunately Marlene Capa had been very ill and we sure hope she is much better by the Back Home Rally. A huge thank you to our hosts for such a fine rally! About 13 couples arrived a day early to renew friendships and because we just could not wait another day to take off in our RV's.  Great job of parking us Ken!  No one got stuck this year even with a bit of rain!  We found that our hosts Ed & Marlene Capa, Ken & Shirley Mitchell, and Mike & Deb McKnight had all been very busy setting up the club house room for our use.  This crew did an excellent job on this rally.  They followed a Patriotic theme with red, white & blue and stars and stripes were everywhere.  As many of us set up for the rally we also used the theme on our dashboards and outside our rigs.  We also had fun digging out our red, white, & blue clothing to complete the theme.  Some people being more creative than others!  25 couple's attended in all.

Thursday

Thursday arrived and we enjoyed catching up with old friends & where they had been & what they'd been up to all winter.  Always good to know that those of us here in the cold and snow who kept the "home fires burning" could now hear what a wonderful time those snow birds had and the best way to go about fulfilling those dreams for ourselves.  That evening we enjoyed a supper of Sloppy Joes provided by our hosts and good conversation around the campfire.  The campground provided us with plenty of firewood throughout our stay.

Friday

Picture
Friday brought a beautiful day, and the nicest one of the rally, and we sure took advantage of sitting in the sun and visiting.  We also started out our day with a great breakfast provided by our hosts.  Great job on the egg Casseroles Shirley!  Deb McKnight also taught the ladies how to make braided edges on their t-shirts while many of our men learned to play a washer toss game, a variation of horseshoes while Mike McKnight kept those games going.  After lunch we assembled for Lawn Chair Baseball.  Due to the men having twice the size team as the women and many of the women on the "Injured" list the men won by a "slight" margin.  A potluck supper was served that evening and Shirley did a great job on the hams!  Nickel Bingo and a campfire were on tap for that evening.  The club house was so nice that many people stayed behind each evening to play their own card games as well.

Saturday

Picture
Saturday brought the men providing the pancake breakfast and they did on excellent job as usual.  We then had our business meeting and collected our yearly dues and expressed the need for hosts for upcoming rallies.  Afterward we took advantage of a patch of sun as we all assembled outside to take a new group picture.  Our hosts then surprised us by providing Miniature golf to members at the campgrounds course.  Prizes for high and low score for the day in the men's and women's categories followed.  Competition was fierce!  Many laughs along the way.  That afternoon we gathered again for an ice cream social.  That evening the campground prepared an excellent catered dinner and the peanut butter pie was to die for!  Gulf Stream International sponsored our dinner.  We then returned to the clubhouse for a Patriotic quiz and card games.  Unfortunately the campfire was rained out.

Sunday

Picture
Sunday brought coffee and rolls, door prizes, and sad goodbyes.  Our club has again grown and we have 2 new couples who have joined!  Our fall rally will be at the KC Campground in MilanMichigan.  They promise us a good time.  Now if they could only promise us good weather as well!
