Bay Shore Camp
We had another great rally May 15-18 in Sebewaing, MI. at the Bay Shore Camp & Family Ministries. The weatherman had predicted rain but our hosts, Jim & Marlene Forgrave and Steve & Sindy Gradowski would not hear of it! During the day we had sunshine!!!! Thanks for ordering that up and providing such a wonderful time! Hosts Jim & Marlene and Sindy & Steve Unfortunately due to illness, surgery, or the rising price of gas or diesel we had a small turn out which just meant we all got to spend more one on one time with each other than usual.
Zipline
We again played miniature golf which was lots of fun last year but a new activity was also available to us this year, "The Zip Line"! Many members got harnessed up and donned a helmet, then jumped off a platform into the wild blue yonder as they zipped along through the air to the end of the line. This activity was not limited to the younger members either. Stan Dobies who will turn 75 next month did it twice with a huge smile on his face! Then there was Brad who did it at least 5 times both right side up and upside down laughing all the way! With 4 people going off the platforms at once it was real exciting for those of us who chose to cheer them on & take photos.
Crafts table
The ladies also made visors which we decorated with glittery paints and "jewels". Add them to your jewelry policies ladies! We had fine meals and an ice cream social and the men did a good job of providing the pancake breakfast. Always a treat to have the guys cooking for us. On Saturday we had another fine catered meal put on by the Bay Shore Camp & Family Ministries kitchen. The catered meal was in a building behind our club house!
Meeting
We had our business meeting and the club voted to keep the current officers by an overwhelming vote. In other words no one else would run for office and their motto was, "If it works why change it". We all agreed to serve another 2 years. This however will be Bob and my last term. As of 2010 someone needs to take our place. We also talked about changing the location of the 20th Anniversary rally from Mackinaw City to a location more central to the club. With the growing price of gas or diesel many expressed concerns of traveling so far. Bob and I will be checking for a new location. Mark September 18 - 21 on your calendars for the Fall Rally at the White Cloud Camp ground in White Cloud, MI. Our hosts, Fred and Dixie Dawe are hosting a "Celebration of Harvest" for us. Think apples, cider, and a donut or two with a great meal thrown in and paid for by Gulf Stream!
New Members
We also met new members Jim, Carol, and Allison Ralston at this rally. We like Jim & Carol but Allison is a delight! Many of us had met them at the Back Home Rallies but this was the first time they had been able to join us at one of our rallies. They had such a good time that they have volunteered to host the Spring Rally May 14 - 17, 2009 at a location to be announced. Bob & Deb Fair will host the 20th Anniversary rally in mid September of 2009. More to come on this rally as information becomes available.
This zip line was tons of fun for everyone!!
